Here are some more game graphics I did earlier this year. Turtle Rescue is a HTML5 game, developed by DataSupply.
The goal of the game is to get the baby turtles safely to the water. Think Frogger.
You can play the game for free here: Turtle Rescue

Ludo Deluxe Holiday Special
I finished a set of backgrounds for the iPad game Ludo Deluxe ('Mens-erger-je-niet' - for my Dutch readers). It's for a special holiday version of the game that's now available on iTunes: Ludo Deluxe on iTunes.
My client on this project was DataSupply.
Enjoy!

Resortico Beta Screens
I've been a little busy lately, working on 3 game art projects at the same time. I can't disclose anything yet, but here are some screenshots from the Resortico Beta instead:
Of course, many more cool objects can be unlocked while playing.

Star Ships
A bunch of Space Ships.
The first series of ships were concepts I created for the EVE online contest over at DeviantART. I tried to explore many different shapes with mixed succes.
I chose to make a more detailed side view from the last starship design. The Korean characters are supposed to say something like 'Vanguard 15'.

This particular piece I created as an illustration for an Sci-Fi story. One of the goals was to create a believable spaceship, largely consistent with modern day science.
The crew compartments are hidden between the cargo bays for protection. There are sensor arrays and sun collectors on the front; primary and secondary fuel tanks are visible on the exterior; Several unfolded heat radiators can be seen; Lastly, there are propulsion engines to go forward or backward, as well as steering thrusters to go in any other direction.

About This Blog
About Me
Hi there,
My name is Tom.
I'm a Dutch Artist and Media Designer.
I have been painting and drawing since early childhood, although there have been many periods of artistic standstill. My parents recognized some talent on early age and hired an artist to teach me some techniques. Years later I attended weekend classes at the School of Arts in Utrecht, The Netherlands. I focused on fine art. My interests are extremely diverse and this all too often prevents me from spending much time creating art. Only recently I have been picking up the brush again with renewed fervour.
In addition to art, I also studied media design and graduated on the subject of 'Game Design for Specific Audiences'. I have a passion for creating games. It is like playing God, but without the ethical dilemmas that are usually associated with that kind of activity :). I have professional experience in various facets of game development, like; 3d modeling, programming, gamedesign and 2d art- as well as experience in web design - particularly as a flash designer/-developer.
I have an insatiable hunger for knowledge and culture. I love to read the classics and watch tons of movies when I get the chance. I'd say that knowledge and culture are two of the most precious things in my life. They comfort me and keep me sharp at the same time.

Why this Blog
I created this blog to share some of my artworks and ideas with whoever may think they are worth seeing or reading. I don't expect millions of followers. Writing my ideas down really helps me to remember them and it forces me to think everything over in more detail . Hopefully it also motivates some people to give me useful critiques and other forms of verbal spanking. I need all the help I can get. I have tons to learn.
What to Expect from this Blog
- Art: Game Art, 2D as well as 3D. Some traditional art and probably some thoughts on the subject as well.
- Game Design: theories about creating entertaining games.
- Stuff about technology.
- Stuff about technology.
- Philosophy: What can I say. I'm a brooder! ;-)
I hope you'll enjoy my blog.
See you around!
-Tom
